You the American flag
Had I seen you in Iraq
I would have torn you apart
Same way as you did to Iraq
Though you put fire on us
I wouldn’t set you ablaze
Humanity teaches me to be kind
To give an offender a chance
To avoid revenge and to forgive
Or if absolutely necessary
To reciprocate with lesser blow
But to a heart devoid of human touch
would such an offer make any a sense?
With the sound of a morter explosion you can kill the noise of a bullet
But you can’t extinguish fire with fire

I don't like the war any better than most people, but it's better over there than on our shores! We were attacked first; we had to react. I just wish it would end and our boys/girls would come home; we've lost too many already!!

I concur with Katie Gabrielle, Abdi-Noor - the average American is against the war. It's the leaders in charge that send our young men and women into battle against the Iraqi people - do we support the troops? Yes. The flag? Yes. The slaughter of innocents? No - only those extremists who would kill, using their own men, women, children, elderly, infirm - that's what we're against. Sadness here, no easy answers -
He has to keep in mind that this war isn't waged by the American people but by the leaders that want to wage an imperialistic oil war . believe me my heart goes out to him and the whole thing is such a horror. If I could speak to him, I would tell him that his kindness is stronger than any bullet and there is a better place for all mankind if they would only reach out and care about something other than money and greed.
