THE SILENCE OF THE FOREST

Many a times in the middle of the night, I stand in my balcony and listen to the sound of silence, occasionally filled with the grunts of the wild boars or the scream of a peacock or the trumpet of an elephant. Blessed I am to experience the joy of nature. The picture shows the view from my balcony ...

Poem Artwork

The eerie silence is so purest
At this hour in the middle of the night
As I stand alone in my balcony
With a cup of hot flavored tea

Stretching beyond is the lovely forest
Enchanting me and so dearest
Lucky I am and blessed for sure
To live in peace with Mother Nature

In the dark somewhere I hear the sound
Of rustling leaves and grunts aloud
A litter of noisy wild boars
Charging through the shrubs, so close

Behind that tree in the dark I see
Pairs of eyes that shine with glee
A herd of spotted deer I guess
Do you think I would ever miss?

Far beyond and all of a sudden
I hear tree branches being broken
Must be a naughty wild elephant
Scaring the long and wicked serpent

That was a peacock’s haunting call
Far away near the waterfall
So gifted I am when I watch him dance
To welcome the rain with charm and grace

Night after night it’s so wondrous
Nature to me has been very generous
As I stand alone in my balcony
With a cup of hot flavored tea

Enchanting capture of a magical moment, Mindtraveler.
I do prefer to think of it as that distinctive peacock's call, rather than "a scream." ;-)
Well scribed; welcome to AD!
