Only funny after the fact...

Poem Artwork

 When you’re old,

Or when young,

Or when your accident prone,

 But that’s only for some.

Can’t see in the dark,

I suggest a light,

Worried about falling,

Worried about if you’re into brawling,

Or down steps you may go sprawling,

All this is certainly appalling,

Either way your screwed, falling sucks.

I say all this because I fell this morning,

In the dark in my bedroom and still what I hit on I wonder,

Bruised my chest, scraped the skin off my arm,

Bled like a sonofabitch but I washed it and it I bandaged alone,

Yeah that’s me I am the one that is apparently accident prone,

Each time I do it I end up with another groan.

Some of us are more prone than others. I have taken to accidents in dreams. They involve me making a movement that I normally cannot do except in dreams. Halfway through, I realize they are going to in disaster so I stop them, usually in midair, hanging until someone can come and get me out of this predicament I'm in… Or, I fall back to sleep and the stupid dream goes away.

But if you are having the accidents while walking and awake, I can't help you. But I think you're on the right track, the direction of less pain.

I am glad it was not more serious, Ed. Watch your step. Love, peace, and best wishes to you,

Regis. 🍁

Hell of a pic. As to your accident, hang in there, Ed. You got through it and you're probably good for a long time. At least you didn't break your hip, the end product of so many falls of the elderly.

I've lucked out so far at 84. Had to give up my bike this year. Too risky of having to stop short and finding the concrete not very comfortable. Used to do 15 miles a day. Down to my stationary bike now, but still happy. My plight has been with luck. Again, be careful, but try and have fun. I'm enjoying the best years of my life now, albeit the most frugal. Helps to have a wife who's not into any girly stuff. No hair, nails, clothes et al for her. Helps to be married to a writer as well.
