Are we eternal? Does time not apply? Image by NASA Hubble Space Telescope

Poem Artwork

The comma breached a pause.

Ants scattered out of their cone

Of sand and dirt in slow-mo

To grind into a frozen state.

The stream halted,

As if cut off up stream.

Our lips never came together

On that gingham picnic spread

Atop shiny grass.

The cloud stayed in place,

Blocking the high noon sun.

Our eyes deadlocked,

Then clocks spun backward.

We were children at dawn,

Kissing was gross.

Then time spun forward,

Where wrinkles and silver hair

Softened our resolve to fight.

We held hands

As the day became dusk.

Then it was dark

In our eternal bone home,

Though we continued, floating through stars

And remembering the prime days of our love,

Life at its peak,

Or so we thought at the time.

Yet now the galaxies

Welcome our body-freed minds.

Curiosity our new purpose,

Smiling at each other,

Holding hands once again in spirit

And making air kisses.

Gods of our own destiny.

Children of contented hope.

I guess I'm but a comma in a long winded poem about two people who are lost and then found a home they could call their own. It is not about your poem at all but just a thought that struck me after reading your poem and is no way a connect to you wonderful poem.

I am on earth again but what a Timeless trip in the universe! Love, space and time are all one, created in the heavens, by the one true living God and there is no other! Great write, I am so honored to have read it! Peace!!!

The images conjured up were striking, especially in those first two stanzas. I couldn't wait to read the rest. And then, you fulfilled the title mightily with the molecules atoms and quarks of consciousness leaving darkness and merging with the universe. Timeless is the word.

Good gawd, this is amazingly very thought provoking to say the least. You have a way of writing a chapter in a book, but in poetical style. THIS was a bit different, but one that I like very much.

To use a "down to earth" expression, Danae scores again with this light, buoyant poke at the limitations imposed on us by time. Is time an illusion, or are we delusional to think so? Either way, it makes for fun and thoughtful poetry, but only in the hands of a stellar poet whose feet are on the ground while her thinking is light years ahead of her time. A stunning write.

An existential journey into the realm of love's connection as it grows and ultimately emerges as one with the universe. Your work here brings fresh understanding of synchronicity and its many layers of growth until it accepts, as you say, "Children of contented hope." Enjoyed this transformation journey of what love can be.

I don't read very much any more, so I was happy to see you are still writing. This is so profound, it gave me chills. You are incredible!

Epiphany by Gary Stephens

“We’re going to use nine megaton warheads in space and we’re not sure they’re large enough to be effective. Why would you even consider using kiloton-range surface-to-air warheads as back-up?” The answer was succinct. “Because they’re all we have.”
