Like it as might we not, Monseigneur Don Ron, here you're both right and wrong. How do you know if we're a "very rare occurrence in the universe" or multi-verses??? There are trillions of planets where similar LIFE with their own share of Einsteins/Barraus/Heisenbergs, etc.,could be possible. No-one disputes the fact that the human brain is simply enormously brilliant, capable of even doing what only gods can will, but on one point, you're clearly wrong when you say: "except the resolve of the people not to go over the edge." Unfortunately, the people all over have been enslaved in ignorance and beaten into submission through widespread poverty and lack of leisure and education that they are always willing to accept the status quo prescribed by their leaders. The PEOPLE - the overwhelming majority - have no way out, have no say in what goes on, they are always duped, My Friend!!!
We are very rare occurrence in the universe. But our selfish survival genes have started to use technology to raise and hoard riches. In order to keep the riches flowing, part of the money is used to corrupt the people that would stand in the way of further raping of the planet for riches of the few.
We are on the cusp of a major crisis as a result of rapid deployment of the earth's riches. So aptly put in 2015 and increasing today without anyone or anything to stop it except the resolve of the people not to go over the edge.
