Our Australian NSW, Conservative government, the Liberal party, recently approved a mega coalmine to extract coal directly under our central water basin providing water to 500,000 residents. A 24 hour, 28 year contract with a South Korean coalmine company is in place. The safety and security of this operation has been opposed for 24 years. Now, in desperation to improve our economy it has been approved... Our water is in dire jeopardy of contamination; as is our air quality; our environment; our animals; our marine life; significant aboriginal sites; as well as our children and future generations. Such decisions cannot be left with corrupt organisations influence by corrupt corporations, both with disastrous limited vision.

The Central Coast is one of the most beautiful places on earth A spectacular vicinity, offering Nature’s divinity Set with significant sites abundant with Aboriginal worth A precious land rich in biodiversity Magnificent beauty beside the sea Pristine beaches with awesome surf Bursting with wildlife, this place is so alive Where endangered species and all living beings can exist quite peacefully But this land is threatened By the dreadful intention To plant an enormous coal mine right where it shouldn’t be Under the Central Coast’s main water supply An absolute far cry To the basic rights of humanity

I can't believe that with a little graft and bribery, that your government would lead a Korean company come in and create more havoc with your water threatened continent. It seems like since the first people were banished to Australia, mining interests have continually come to rape your resources. Our failed President Hoover who stupidly helped bring on the great world depression of the 1930s made his fortune mining in Australia.

You are right about the uniqueness of Australia's fauna and flora. And the need for the people to continue to have clean-air, drinkable water and your unique wildlife all around. I am really saddened to see all of the fires burning and to hear that possibly one third of the koala population has already died in these fires.

The whole world needs to wake up and stop deceiving ourselves into thinking that only money counts when it comes to life. Quality of life is much more precious.

Corporations control the governments, and they own us, and nothing will change until we have leaders who aren't in bed with them. After making so much progress from the polluted past, it seems we're returning to those dreadful days once again, all in the name of greed. Who cares about the future when there's money to be made.

Screw politics! Reality is reality and this is my take:

COAL

COAL... The black dust it creates tatters my very SOUL!

COAL... An ancient form of heating from the dark ages of OLD!

COAL... I pray we learn our lesson and come up with something BOLD!

COAL... In our society today our health is more precious than GOLD!

Amen!
