remember me the willing patriot the anxious zealot the reluctant volunteer the fearful draftee who believed that the good of my country and freedom would set my survival in stone remember me the frightened soldier the homesick lover the lonely hero trapped on foreign soil who braved the horrors of war risked my life to win and never made it home. copyright 2012 Pierre Ortega

Pierre,
May God be with all the families of the soldiers who never made it home. An outstanding poem and makes the reader think.

I remember you. You were my love and then you went to Viet Nam as a helicopter pilot. I loved you complete. You never came back.
