Sleep Well Mother Earth

Sleep well sweet Mother Earth,

Rest easy but sound,

In peace may you slumber,

With vibrant dreams of Spring’s renewal.

With gratitude I observe the trees,

Now bare of the leaves and fruits,

Recently harvested and filling pantries,

For your children; creatures and humankind alike.

Rest soundly ‘neath your cold white blanket,

And your buffer of frozen ground,

For your labors are done for this season.

Beautiful write about Mother Earth. I love the different seasons, watching how Mother Earth changes and knowing what she provides for children, creatures and humankind alike. Thank you for sharing Karen.

This is a really nice poem. Almost has a Native American ring to it. A love for Mother Earth. Well told!

Mother Earth is full of Fatherlands - it's a pity we're so full of business - we got designs on poor old Mother Earth!! Everything bleared and smeared with toil in Hopkins' words. But she'll throw us off one day with tsunamis and earthquakes if we get too big for our ten league boots.

A lovely personification, Karen; and tomorrow will bring the onset of the new season. Thank you. Love and best wishes,

I haven't seen snow in years. I miss it, a little. But, I prefer to read about it, as in your poem, than have to deal with it.

I remember how sounds always seemed muffled in snow. I guess they call it a blanket for a reason. Thanks for the memory of a snowy countryside.

as gentle as a mother with an infant swaddled in her arms, so you utter and offer this tender benediction to the Mother and Sustainer of all our physical life. Beautiful sentiments here, Karen. xx

Lovely poem Karen. Mother Nature's cold white blanket is merely her winter makeup, just as the beautiful colors preceding it in the fall is her fall makeup. As you know, makeup only lasts so long before it has to be touched up or redone. Walla!!! Spring flowers!

The "cold white blanket" is merely a covering for a long desired rest. She will rise and bloom and be fruitful in the springtime. Nice poetry, Karen.
