After the storm............  

          First quiet day in over a week,
       afforded me time to think and reflect.
           Thunder, lightning, pouring rain,
             tornadoes close by I do detect.

          Mowed, edged, tended my garden,
       before it began, the sun shone bright,
      Rabbits in burrows, squirrels in trees,
         birds on the roof soon took flight.

            Drainpipes working overtime,
        windows attacked by rain and ice.
            Close your eyes, stay inside,
     outside right now is anything but nice.

         As I looked all around I coud see,
     the changes evolving, finally to green.
  White, yellow, orange, lavender and blue,
      symphony of colors meant to be seen.

       Peering up to the clouds I could see,
     a manifestation of nature at her best.
    Many pastel colors beginning to form,
          on angel wings so full of zest.

   My kitties have just about had enough,
 sitting by the window, all three in a row.
   Mentally tired and so physically worn,
look to the heavens at a wondrous rainbow.

Find it amazing through hardship and strife,
 something so simple can make us all smile.
    Wash away the tears, anger and pain,
          bring us back to feeling happy,
                    if just for a while.
