“The mind can go in a thousand directions, but on this beautiful path, I walk in peace.
With each step, the wind blows. With each step, a flower blooms.”
Thich Nhat Hanh
The world had grown
Too small,
Its troubles too big,
So I escaped outside
Into the quiet of
The late, late night,
Where the star-filled,
Moonless sky and
The chill, clear air
Could cleanse away
The despair that sought
To crush me.
There in the shadows
I allowed the stillness
To embrace me,
Wrapping my battered spirit
In a blanket
Of healing solitude
As the whispers
Of the slight breeze
Soothed my mind,
And put my heart
At rest.
So cool. I got a reprieve just from reading it. You are very talented with poetry like this.
When Beh first went to work in an alteration shop, she worked for Mr. Bonz. He was translating Vietnamese poems into English… particularly from prisoners held in North Vietnamese reeducation camps where they tended to be starved to death.
I found those poems to be very sparse of words like what they were eating and filled with references to food.
He liked my help with his editing so much he gave me a wonderful four plaques inlaid with mother of pearl on black of the four muses – delightful!
