If my guardian angel...
would but grant me just one wing...
then by chance...
I might lift my soul...
just high enough...above this earth...
somewhere...
between here...and the heavens.
Perhaps just enough distance...
into the atmosphere...
so that I might not confront...
the hurt in my heart...
distance my being...from the loss of lives...
I fear...
in the days of our world...before us.
And yet...
how do I honor...
with respect...
these soldiers...
angels in armor...
who choose to defend...
my freedom...of homeland...
and thought?
With confusion of thought...
and pain in heart...
it hurts to recognize...
that any mother's child...
of any continent...
be taken forever...from the womb...
and later...
from her heart.
Yet...
grant me just one wing.
