It's nice to find an old, forgotten piece of brain-flow. I found this one in a 2013 folder. It's a bit belated, but still works...
May on the Front Step For a millisecond April hesitated on the front step of May and then charged ahead making such a breeze that everything dead quavered Twigs and branches rocked in cul-de-sac gutters pine needles and cones rolled towards lawn edges detached feathers stood on end and twirled and leaves danced in devils down roads twisting clockwise And in that self-same split second May opened the door too quickly so that dashing April was dashed alright And like a daffodil, May rose from the debris on her yellow, narcissistic lips-- a plea. May 1? May I? Charmed, I'm sure-- irresistible face Enter, then and welcome.
Such an alluring dance, soft and crazy at the same time. Your poem is as irresistible as that enticing month seducing another or merging with it. A monthamorphosis before our very eyes!
Poetic invention has as many voices as nature has plants. The writing of a poem is like a child throwing stones into a mineshaft. You compose first, then you listen for the reverberation. I find a pleasing resonance in this piece. Peace...
The true mark of a poet is not to tell the reader anything, but to make the reader feel something. All your stuff does that for me. You can hear the wind whistling through the crack in the door...
