A lone water lily floats by
Bold yet delicate
Unmindful and unabashed
Dancing with the tide
As it silently take its course
Towards the wild rapids
The fragile roots break their hold
Soft leaves starts to fold
The pink on its petals begins to pall
Its tender stem starts to bow
Untamed ripples mean to snuff it out
Seemingly loath to just depart
Once again it is serene
The water lily is tenderly caressed
By gentle waters and bright sunlight
By whispers of soft, loving breeze
But…
Is there a cure for withered leaves?
Will pink come back to petals gone white?
Will strength embed itself in the broken roots?
They say life goes on and on and on
So its dying roots try to gather all that is left
To send forth a fresh head of water lily And spring anew to continue the journey.
Wonderful poem, Sheri!! This speaks of life's recycling because of its strength. Life is made anew when strength is recovered and gathered. Well inspiring piece indeed.
Boy, I was sure drifting away with the Lily!!! Gorgeous imagery and very well-written, and I found myself saying a yes, and yes, and YES again, to the questions at the end, so into the poem was I-great work to bring forth emotion like that-Blessings, Michelle
Sheri the poems was beautiful and powerful. Such depth and meaning for each of us to think upon! I have a personal friend there in your country now visiting. I must save the work of excellence to send him when he returns.
Sheri, you've combined beauty and power with this poem. I was blessed to live three years in the Philippine's. I know how unique your jungle forests' are. Sadly, though, this is being done all over our planet.
And one day (if it's not here already) we'll all pay for it!

Sheri, this is a truly meaningful write about man's abuse of our natural resources. Beautiful work, as usual.

Beauty in every line, Sheri. I believe our planet has become as delicate as a water lily. Anytime soon, everything will disappear if we don't do our share in taking more care of nature. Best regards.
Sheri, I don't think I had read any of your work until your review of my Joseph poem. I love this poem. You draw such a beautiful picture. I will be following you in the future.
Moving words Sheri, I invision this delicate water lily vividly,,sadly mankind is not always kind,,I have seen so much destruction,,,,hundreds of trees taken down on my lot line to bring in city water,,yet 100 feet beyond they could of avoided taking any down...sad indeed
Love and Blessings,
Christine
Yes, Sheri, the delicate lily of natural life has little chance in our dictatorship, we the self-styled masters of the universe...we will destroy everything eventually...yes, they say life goes on but Nature will have its revenge and we will cease, our position if we continue our madness is untenable and we deserve extinction.
Fine thoughtful, moving poem.
We need to stop fighting under the flag of hypocrisy and use our democracy where it can protect the vulnerable world. We need to change the creed from greed to need.
"So its dying roots try to gather all that is left
To send forth a fresh head of water lily
And spring anew to continue the journey".. beautiful yet sad.
I do now understand what they meant when they talked about the coming asphalt jungle, we are clearing the way so it can become true.

A powerful offering with a noble intention of letting a small voice be heard thru your pen. Go girl, make things happen!
Deforestation, eroding soil, vanishing wildlife - and yet, so many refuse to see how we are destroying our planet, bit by bit, each and every day now. My faith in mankind diminishes now each day, since so many, are so blind.
Dear Readers and Friends, this is an expression of my silent anguish over the deforestation of our lush forests in Cateel, Davao Oriental, Philippines; where illegal loggers abound and greedy politicians and businessmen take their share of this unthinkable corruption. Soon, landslides will happen due to eroded soils and balding mountains, wildlife is fast diminishing in this place under the sun. I can only hope and pray that change for the better would soon come. Thank you for stopping by. I value all your comments and messages. Peace and love in Christ.
