 So you want to be a poet

Get ready for a let down

Be prepared for depression

Think about the built in rejection.

If poverty wasn't on your list

Write it down, write it down soon!

You have got to get in the right frame of mind

You have got to wear the right clothes.

Then you have to think of the style of your prose.

A-B A-B A-B A-B, OH NO!

Abstract, free verse, rhyming and haiku.

Subjects are plenty, what am I to do?

So you write down some poetry

And you put it in a book

You go to poetry readings

And get some strange looks

What are you doing

You don't sell a book

Remember they are poets

They all have their own books.

So you go home dejected

And feeling all blue

You sit in the corner and wonder what to do

Walla, You are a poet too!
