I
The silence was again pierced by a jolt of thunder. I knew it would come and was prepared. For only moments before, I could see every blade of grass through the window. Lightning before thunder; some things never change.

II
I listened as the rain fell slowly against the rooftop. Sometimes individual raindrops could be heard if the mind was strained to find the exact rhythm. Such an arduous task would not allow me to experience the intended purpose of the storm. So, like many others, I simply relaxed and listened as the separate drops blended to become one.

III
No one knew when it all ended exactly. The fine line had been drawn, and few would even know it rained until morning. Only those privileged to witness the onslaught could guess as to when it stopped. I had been one of them, but soon the storm had succeeded in its timeless efforts. I blinked slowly, the effects befell me... and once again I slept.
