Little Angel

her

white gown

made of satin and lace cascades around the tree

wings of snow white feathers spread wide for all to see.

this angel is a messenger, sent from God to share good news.

hopefully the job gets done, to chase the holiday blues.

Was this the angel who spoke to Joseph one night,

in a dream to ease his fears about his life?

encouraging him to make Mary his wife.

Saying the Baby that was conceived,

was of the Holy Spirit

and born to set men free.

Was this the angel sent to

Nazareth, a town in Galilee,

telling Mary she was blessed,

highly favored among the rest?

Was this angel telling her of Jesus,

she’d be with child, and birth a son?

He’d be called Son of the Most High,

if upon her the Holy Spirit could come.

Was this the angel that sang in the night,

“behold I bring you good tidings of great joy”

announcing the birth of God’s own baby boy?

Perhaps this little angel is none of the above.

Maybe she just sits on top the tree

 to remind us of God’s love.
