Poem Artwork

There once was a young man named Regis

Who rarely did anything egregious

Except for the time

He made margaritas without lime

Not illegal but surely litigious

There once was a man from down under

Who made a spectacular blunder

At his former friend’s wedding

His emotions were shedding

And his wailing put the union asunder

There once was a man from Peace River

Who decided it was time to forgive her

And when she ran to his arms

Using all of his charms

His love he was able to deliver

There once was a man who spoke French

Who used English to lure a young wench

With the noblest of intentions

And divine interventions

Her affections he was able to unclench

There once was a man with compassion

Who knew kindness never fell out of fashion

As his writings suggest

He tries to bring out the best

In his comrades to write with more passion

There was a man of Celtic decent

Most of his life in Canada was spent

In a family maneuver

They moved near Vancouver

And set in motion his writing ascent

There once was a Canuck with a beard

Whose writing was occasionally weird

But try as he might

When he saw the light

His work was superbly engineered

There once was a man often serious

Whose mood sometimes bordered on delirious

But in his heart there was laughter

That he loved to chase after

And he became the limerick master imperious

What can I say, Patrick? I am truly honored and left rather... ...wordless. Some of these limericks indicate that you may know me better than I know myself.

There's this fellow whose name is Patrick
Who on me has played a trick
He calls it a roast
To me it's a boast
And the job he's done is quite slick

Thank you my friend. Love and peace,

Regis

There once was a Poet named Patrick
Who did all he could to make Regis look sick
He roasted him rare
But we know he cares
'Cause he didn't give Regis a kick!!!!

Well, I’ll not have the same blond moment that I had the last time someone posted a work about Regis by confusing our AD Regis with the overrated TV personality. This is a wonderful tribute. So true! His pen has made me laugh, caused tears, and always makes me think… even at my most blond times. Wonderful work, Patrick.

By the way, where did you find that pic of Regis?
