One armed bandits indeed....but I love em'

Here I am at the kennel A casino to be precise Where technology and psychology Have loosed an evil device The device is called a slot machine Pavlov’s genious some would tell Just like their doggy counterparts Humans respond blindly to a bell Test subjects arrive by busload By taxis, planes and car Inhibitions are lowered With free drinks from the bar Pavlov’s “conditional reflex” A bell and then reward The slot machine does replicate To his experiment I am moored Yet this is far more devious It’s been reversed with hints of Hell I stuff in a pile of quarters For just a chance to hear the bell Pavlov didn’t figure That folks would lose their mind His subjects weren’t that greedy Experiments done in the blind For now the experiment continues The bell reflex it does provoke I’ll sit and stuff this damn machine To hear a bell until I’m broke Copyright 2010 Patrick Granfors

I know some people who are constantly "held up" by the one-armed bandit but seem to enjoy it since they go back again and again. Perhaps it is a form of masochistic enjoyment for them. In any case, I appreciate your wit and humor, Patrick. Love and peace,

I was just in Vegas two weeks ago in fact for a business meeting and found myself tethered to one of this damn things for hours. But you know, they have lost some of the juice compared to days of old, as now when you win, you don't get the clankety-clank of coins spilling out into the catch-pan; it's all done on a ticket electronically with credits. Oh well, still didn't stop me. I was on a mission: I AM GOING TO LOSE MY MONEY NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE SAYS!!

The usuall reward ratio that doggies would fall for Patrick, was three to one, after that it became much harder to entice them to continue, of course their liquid intake wasn't doctored, I wonder if there could be some sort of mining for entrappment here, I am sure a clever lawyer, some sort of guy, that is as clever as you are with your poetry, you know what I mean.
