Jersey Ed's Parakeet

We have a vulture resident that roosts on top of our little turret above our dining room. Messy thing.

Poem Artwork

He perches above my kitchen table

Does that somehow a curse enable?

Jersey’s parakeet got away

Now on my roof it likes to stay

I wouldn’t mind but this thing craps

Enough to fill the downspout traps

No doubt this once was Jersey’s bird

The DNA matches dear Ed’s turd

The one that Pee Wee sent to me

After Jersey’s trailer-able poetry

Self defense he claimed it was

Mean Tall Woman agreed just because

So now I’m stuck here with his pet

Can’t get immodium from the vet

The next door neighbor now complains

The yard turns white every time it rains

But it ain’t snow that coats the grass

Just something else that’s come to pass

Now the EPA’s knocking at my door

I wonder what they have in store

C’mon Ed I’m begging you

I’ll even pay the postage too

I’ll make the deal ever so sweet

If you’ll just take back your damn parakeet

Do like my brother did to my nephew–put it right back on the bus for Jersey! Knowing Ed, he's going to love this one. We've got them around here, only they are cattle egrets who are hanging out in our city trees because of all the Indian immigrants (as they are). Wrote about them in a satire here called Filthy Squatters. Some readers didn't get the point, thinking I was talking about my human neighbors. Anyway, this is the delightful little poke to our neighbor on AD.

As per your last poem- I had to wait for 6 deer to cross the road on my way home last night.
As per this poem- unfortunately I do very often see vultures feasting on the deer that don't make it across the roads in my high deer area.

You know how I know Polly wants a cracker? A little bird told me.
Might have been Ed's.

What do you get when you cross a Jersey Devil and a California Vulture? Trust me, you don't even want to know - and neither does the world. We had to send that bird your way, for the sake of the entire planet! Good Luck. And treat that bird very nicely; it's really not her fault.

My little Parakeet has a mind of its own,
After all it did all the way to Calif roam,
I tried to keep it here in Jersey,
But he wanted to be somewhere thats warmer,
Just keep your eyes on him, as when he lived with Mr. Ed,
He was always telling him on me, he was a dirty little informer...Jerseeeeeeeey

Be a bit more generous Patrick, invite the poor thing in for supper, matter of fact, give it the joint and move in with Ed, now that would cramp his style, and he'd beg you to have it back ha, just don't hurt the poor thing, it's not kosher, it's bad enough it was abandoned by Ed, on top of your shed.

Hey, Patrick, you know what? Fatten the damn bird up and serve it to a cat for Thanksgiving.

The Wholly Book of Genesis by Jay Dubya

The Wholly Book of Genesis is a humorous satire on the first book of the Old Testament where the Story of Creation, the building of Noah's Ark, Sodom and Gomorrah and the families of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are thoroughly spoofed and broadsided.
