The City of San Francisco was successful, and now a few thousand lunatic residents of the City of Santa Monica, California have about half of the signatures they need to get a ballot measure in place that would ban the circumcision of baby boys. Though clearly a religious issue, as well as a simple matter of health and personal choice, it never ceases to amaze me how one group of people can have such a burning desire to legislate the body parts of another. A case could be made for either position, but this is about local government’s deep intrusion into people’s personal lives. Out damn Spot! What’s the next big do gooder crime target …..felony nose picking???

Poem Artwork

It will be a misdemeanor

If you try to whack my wiener

This flap is more than legal

I would say

Of the ice berg it’s the tip

The one to surely sink your ship

Keep your busy body notions

Far away

Support a woman’s right to choose

But champion infant’s rights abuse

Your schizophrenic ballot

Makes no sense

This piece of public legislation

Will never benefit our nation

Your dangerous intrusion

Has no defense

In the immortal words of Cheech & Chong;

“Bailiff, whack his pee pee!!!”

You are absolute demand we write. On the other hand, while girls get off Scot free, poor infant boys don't even have a choice in the matter. And seven years old, “Why does Johnny have one and I don't?”

Sorry, Tom Hyland, you don't know what you're missing. My father made the 86 and I'll probably make it to 96.

PAT ... WELL SAID!

My Dad went to his grave at 84 - UN-circumcized - had three healthy kids, was my Best Friend, and was the Greatest Man I ever knew. Having what God gave him, totally intact, was obviously, never a hindrance!

This fact begs some questioning on my part - IF the Bible was written by Men - NOT GOD HIMSELF ... is it not 'self-evident' that the issue of Circumcision was merely a point of conjecture between St. Peter and St. Paul? Was GOD Himself Circumcized? If so, WHO did it? T'weren't NO Rabbis YET!

Those 'new' Christians were forced to abide by the old Jewish tradition!
Again, a LAW promulgated by MAN!

Look to All Natural Male Mammals - they seem to Procreate quite aptly, WITHOUT any circumcision! Perhaps 'a la mode' even facilitates the ACTION?

peace - Tom.

I AM DUMBFOUNDED...THIS IS SIMPLY RIDICULOUS. EACH FAMILY SHOULD HAVE A CHOICE, INDEED! AND LIKE YOU POINTED OUT...THERE ARE SO MANY MORE IMPORTANT ISSUES TO SCREAM ABOUT. BUT, THIS IS GOOD OLD USA, WHERE FREEDOM REIGNS...AND, UNFORTUNATELY, RUN IT INTO THE GROUND. WELL...HALLELUJAH, ANYHOW! IT WON'T BE THE FIRST ORDINANCE OF GOD THAT HAS BEEN CHANGED BUT...I WON'T GO THERE. THANKS FOR SHARING, PATRICK AND NOW I AM MORE CONVINCED THAN EVER THAT ALL OF THOSE WHO KNOW A WORD OF PRAYER...NEED TO PRAY. FOR THE WORLD IS SURELY WAXING WORSE AND WORSE, EVEN AS I WRITE. LOVE, BLESSINGS & FAITH...

I do believe all logic has taken a long vacation. With all that we as a country have going on at the moment is this really a top priority mission?

Be always safe,
Karen

Patrick, I'm neither for, nor against circumcision, but I'm definitely against legislation that will dictate (ohhh that might be a bad choice of words) one way or the other. As you noted, it's generally a religious decision.... and generally it takes place long before we have a choice in the matter. (at least it did for me)

Keep banging away at them, my friend... Love what you do and oh how I envy your ability to select a title for your stuff…. This one was classic.

Thanks Dick

Patrick, I cannot even begin to tell you how much I agree with you regarding the minimal "do-gooders" that know how we should live our lives so much better than we know. What a disgusting intrusion in our lives! Truly, where will this end? Great informational poem.

Thank you, Patrick, my sentiments exactly!
So many poor guys would be in some serious discomfort, including my adorable fire-starting nine year old, who has an appointment, thank goodness, for such a helpful medical procedure in the upcoming month.
Wow, you are a fount! :)

Ever notice that the same people who insist so strongly on THEIR right to choose are the same ones who want to leave us no choice about how we live and raise our kids? Therew will be back alley circumcizrs just like there were back alley abortioniasts before Roe v. Wade. It's like these people don't learn from legislation that has discriminatwed agains them and want to do the same thing to others, and their past makes it politically incorrect to question their motives. This is completely absurd and devoid of good sense.

Oh, and I'll have the calimari.

Why on earth is it done in the first place, ok, I know that part, cleanliness an issue, proof it, just because the thing is uncovered don't mean it's any cleaner, matter of fact, I would argue the opposite. Leaves kids personal belongings alone, until they have their own say in the matter, otherwise it's simply child abuse.
It is sad indeed, that legislation is needed to get rid of such practice in the first place, what century are we in? California thank God, has some of the most forward looking legislation in the world, and is a leader on many important issues, that have been encrusted with a backward leaning mindsets. On a personal note, I have to thank one particular person, that left me and my pee wee as you call it intact, I don't call mine a pee wee, because it's still whole as God had intented, and properly functional without loss, and the addentum "wee". I feel only pity for anyone that has been thus mutilated, and express my sorrow, and condolences to you my friend. I know you would most likely take a scalpel to my tongue at this moment, it too though, is only accessible through the circumcition of the lips first ha. On the important part of your argument though, legislation, and input, you must know there are thousands of laws past a day, what's one more, that actually makes sense? And still proves that government by the people for the people is still a viable issue, others would and kill for such a small thing. No I said it, you seem to always wind my clock, I love ya anyway, and leave ya with peace and blessings, and as I said my condolences!
