Hints of Ozark autumn off my back porch.

Photo: By Patrick Granfors

Poem Artwork

Autumn’s first chill

Arouses the dragon of the lake

As the breaking day reveals

The swirling vapors of his steamy breath

Rising playfully from surface ripples

Drifting into the nearby hills

Bathing leaves in tiny dewdrops

Sparkling like yellow diamonds

Atop the marmalade morning canopy

Dragon’s fire has scarcely begun

To consume the tapestries of green

Replacing them with brilliant crimsons

Blazing oranges yellows and subtle umbers

Natural transformation subdued while

The sleepy dragon stirs the waters

Just so

Guiding his wispy magical mist gently skyward

Beyond the shoreline

Clearing his canvas

For the day’s work ahead

Enchanting images of Dragon's glory. The magic of an Ozark fall. Wish I was there, too.

WHAT A PICTURE! AND WHAT A GREAT SHARING...PROSE PRODUCING THE VIVID IMAGERY THAT DOESN'T JUST SATISFY BUT LEAVES A LASTING IMPRESSION OF POETIC SPLENDOR. SO ENJOYED AND APPRECIATED. THANK YOU, PATRICK. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Patrick, it's a "Double Ditto" to everything I said about your last posting. You should get serious more often…. Not entirely, but more often…. Great write. Dick
