Of all the things to slow my gait
Pedestrian speed bumps in LA
They didn’t exactly fall from trees
These road apples made from hay
They’re as American as apple pie
Garden treasures from a steed
Unless of course they’re Arabian
I didn’t witness the fateful deed
Perhaps it was a Palomino
But certainly not Mr. Ed
Unlike our famous den mate
That talking horse is dead
I’m sure it wasn’t a Clydesdale
They quit the Rose Parade
And the evidence on the sidewalk
Is less than they’d have made
It couldn’t be a Mustang
The emissions left behind
Would violate the standards
That California has in mind
It must have been a Lipizzan
The ones that love to prance
Who else could have set the stage
To make us do a sidewalk dance
I guess is doesn’t matter
Such things don’t me disturb
There must not be an etiquette
For taking horses to the curb

WHEN I WAS AKID, 2 SISTERS HAD A FIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET,
PICKIN' UP FRESH STEAMIN' HOT HORSE-TURDS, N' THROWIN' AT ONE ANOTHER.
KER-SPLAT! WHAT A SIGHT TO SEE!

I sure hope you scooped it all up,
And took it home, to your garden;
One of the best fertilizers around,
What a Christmas gift you were given!
Much peace, love and light,
Amber
