Orangutan resembles man
Except for size and color
Mannerisms similar
A mind just slightly duller
Eyes that penetrate the soul
If you choose to look within
To see beyond the orange hair
That covers up their skin
Dexterous fingers doing tasks
Few other creatures do
That puts them in a category
Close to me and you
It’s their heart that captures mine
When I watch these gentle souls
Sometimes I sort of envy them
When I struggle with life’s goals
For in the end we all pursue
That which make us whole
Like finding words that rhyme with orange
It’s often nothing we control
