I remember when I waas a kid there were lots more and different kinds of birds than seem to be around now. I guess that's what you call "progress, or something. Congrats on findingnsome place where you can see ao many.

beautiful...life's different in a country...we townies yearn for it..
great picture seen ...liked it ...am a great fan of poems on animals and birds...Ted Hughes writes well..I love his poems, then of course The Owl and the pussy cat my all time fav...gets me few giggles... :)best wishes.neerja

I live out in the woods in this campground so I hear birds waking me each morning...of course there are SOME mornings that I wish they would go bother some other deserving soul...;-)e

Patrick dear fellow, I always sensed you knew how to live life the it should be lived, I should invite you to my backyard, I have most of these creatures around me all day, a sanctuary in the middle of the city, gnomes and elves included. Bless ya, and have a great time!

Usually when a person begins to age they long for the peace and quiet of country living. Not me. I was born and raised in a little country town, population barely over 700, and I've no desire to go back. I will admit to wanting more peace and quiet, but the little town/city of Thibodaux, Louisiana gives me pretty much all I need. Loved your poem with all the birds in attendance. Nice. Very nice.

It's good for you city dwellers to get away every so often so you can enjoy the birds and bugs, along with a few other creatures. Enjoy for a spell, then get yer fanny back there and keep the country running.

Actually, living in Westlake Village, though I am not on the side of my street that backs to Westlake, we, very often will have mama and ducklings crossing our streets with a line of cars patiently waiting. We also have flocks of Northern Geese flying overhead using our little lake as a resting and eating place. Though it is really nice to get away, I kind of feel that I am living in vacation land and so very thankful to have landed in this place.

You got me country dreaming with this one. Even though I'm lucky to be a suburban dweller with a lot of critters in my backyard–the most recent, a pair of black bottom whistling ducks and their brood of six little ducklings (I couldn't believe it–we have no water close by), I still long to live in the country and hopefully will very soon.
