I saw a baby zebra born when I went to an animal preserve here in Texas--just fell out of Mama, landed and after a bit, wobbled to a shaky stance--it was the neatest thing!

excellent ku on a beautiful creature ...

A zebra frolics on the open plains
Kicking wildly into the air
No other creature can be seen for miles
No other vision ripples through the heat
Like the wild streaks of this jungle creature-
He just spins round and round
A cloud of dust fills the breeze
I wonder what has pissed him off
Maybe his mare has changed her stripes?

Each one IS absolutely unique, (just like us) and they identify each other by their markings. So much so, that they won't adopt a baby orphaned by a kill that is from another clan...Glad to make your aquaintence, Tinka. I came here because of your poem, "Time", which I thought was wonderful.

ever see a zebra being born? i have, at the fort worth zoo in fort worth, texas; the zebra wasn't even an hour old when i saw it! it was soooo cute! beautiful write about a beautiful and unique animal; well done!

i just saw the movie 'stripes' with my granddaughter...i will never view zebras quite the same again
