Why can I write as I did?
Once upon a time
My creative words
Seemed to flow Through
My mind Like water cascading
Down a mountain sides
Why can I smell the wild flowers?
In the green clover fields
Of my dreams
On a clear spring day
And scribe about The beauty
Of Elysium?
Why can I write about her?
As she walks past me,
Describing
The heavenly angel
Dwelling in my heart
And every word flowing
Through the corridors
Of my mind.
Will I wake up one day
With a plume
Within the gasp of my hand
Dipped in the ink of inspiration
So I may poetically stain
The virgin parchment before me?
With words worthy describing
how my heart and soul
Aches to shower your existence with.
Will nature bring forth Scenes?
I've yet witnessed
In my life time begging me
To record them
For the world to share
Her secrets and my dreams.
EVEN WHEN A POET THINKS THEY AREN'T SAYING ANYTHING...THEY ARE SAYING TREMENDOUS THINGS, LIKE THIS POSTING! THANKS FOR SHARING, WILLIAMS - LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
Thank you for sharing William. I feel the same way. For me it's a poetic sabbatical. If I take a break for a while I usually get my grove back. It seems to go in cycles kind of like the seasons throughout the year. It will be back I am sure. Then you "Spring Back" my friend!
At the first instance I thought you have made a mistake by using "Why can I....?" But then when I really go into read your poem then I realized it was actually a statement why you wrote the way you write, as in a statement "Why I did what I did..." and then give us the reasons to why.
Hhhhhmmmm...It's confusing, but I understood what you mean. Thanks so much for sharing, William!
You are writing, and very well in my opinion. If you feel inwardly (now outwardly) that you have lost your verve, never fear my friend, when something is lost it can be found. You will find yours.
