Four hundred people mostly women and children have been killed in a three-day war in Mogadishu, Somalia.
Shelling the innocent
Bombing the buildings
Killing people en-mass
Streets awash with blood
Bodies stink, smell badly
Strewn in dirty streets
Taken care of by insects
Death toll well over 400
Hospitals overwhelmed
Patients scatter around
Weeping wailing and screaming
With no one coming to their aid
Business brought to a halt
Schools and madrassas closed
No lights shimmering around
As there is power failure
City dark in broad daylight
But with the candles of hope
It is receiving a bright light
Peace activists are at work
To mediate the warring sides
And to bring the war to an end

Abdi-Noor, the candle of hope cannot, and will not be extinguished. Keep hope, my friend, there will be a brighter tomorrow for you and your people. The people of Africa and the world cannot stand by idly while this happens to your people.
Staying in my prayers, and sharing across the 'divide' between Africa and the west, between Islam and Christianity; we stand together...
I pray that the candles of hope will glow brighter than the light of mortar fire, Abdi-Moor. The people of Somalia have been doing all that they could just to survive the last several years and now a sort of civil war (there never seems to be anything civil about civil war does there?)that is not supported by the masses. Somewhere there is a much greater agenda than what is visible to those of us who observe from afar and I pray that for the sake of the innocents, who are always caught in the crossfire of any conflict, that peace comes to rest upon your country and that this happens soon.
Take care and be safe, my friend,
Sherry
