Obituary of a Crayola.

Poem Artwork

Red "Don't Flush" Crayola

Red, a vibrant, colorful, character, dyed suddenly of a melt-down in Atlantic City at a card game. He fell out of his chair with a royal flush in his hand. He lost all of his color and no one could revive him.

A big fan of the Cincinnati Reds and the Red Sox, he was also a fervent member of Bed Head Reds and Fruitfully Freckled. Successful author of "Red, and Proud of It", he was seldom without a pack of Big Red.

Earlier this year, in Texas, Red visited Texas to check out the rumor: everything's bigger in Texas. His stay was shortened and headlines read:
Drunk fished from floodwaters was found yelling "Don't flush! Don't flush!"

Apparently Red stopped at a bar, had several drinks and then ambled, mistakenly, out the front door, slid down an embankment and was drowning in flood waters.

Thereafter, the word 'flush' drove him mad.

"After Dad returned home from Texas," his daughter, Rose, wept, "he duck taped the toilets. We were the only family with a porta-potty."

Red, #3 of the eight original Crayola family, is survived by 4 brothers--(Ninja) Black of China, Blue (world reknown for his music) of New Orleans, Purple (MIA) and Brown (of the CIA), 3 sisters--Orange ('of don't squeeze the' fame) of Florida, Yellow, serving overseas somewhere and Green who is spread all over CA., his wife, White, (a Nixon cabinet member who is now OUT in Washington), and two daughters--Rose and Pink.

He was preceded by his infamous son, Pigskin, who was tragically crushed on the football field in the recently televised Super Bowl.

**If this is off-color, please forgive the writer as she, too, is a colorful character!

You had me laughing from start to finish. Colorful is a 'tragic' word, but absolutely meaningful. Says much more [I think] about our life than there mere mention of crayolas. LOL

God bless you. Kathy

Gotta say it--your writing "waxes" poetic. (I'm a big fan of puns.) Well done! :)
