Finger-licking Good
Not of brick or wood, my house is gingerbread
with a roof of white icing. Enough said!
I wake up in the morning
throw something in the oven.
My fingers taste of delights
that are finger-licking good
but I'm shunned in this neighborhood!
You wouldn't believe the rumors folks have spread!
All the children think I'm a witch, run don't tread.
Sometimes goodies are burnt,
toss them. Cats are found dead.
Offer my finger to all
but they scream, throw off their hood.
Why am I staying in this old house, neighborhood?
There is no mortgage on a house made of bread.
If I get hungry, I can eat my house, shed.
There's nothing that smells like home
plus to sweetness I am prone.
I crave, mostly, pure sugar,
finger-dipped chocolate goo-goo.
without me there's no neighbor Good!
