This was written with Doogie, 15, & blind and me, deaf. Before you ask, "No, our grandson, whom we're raising, doesn't have a seeing eye dog. One has to be 16 to receive/care for one. Disabilities do NOT have to incapacitate; one can have a FULL life if they so chose! The photograph is of my grandson, Christian Douglas Turner, 15, a high school--mainstream--sophomore.

Teed At My Seeing Eye Dawg That I Don't Need

My dawg,
she all I have & I am poor
least she won't howl any more
she peed a'fore we reached the door

I'm teed at my seeing eye dawg that I don't need

My dawg,
came out of nowhere one fine day
she sniffed my cane & then she stayed.
lazy, she slept, ate, all dang day

I'm teed at my seeing eye dawg that I don't need

My dawg
and I didn't see eye to eye
she'd help strangers on the sly
she thought me blind but I get by.

I'm teed at my seeing eye dawg that I don't need

My dawg
lays in my backyard finally
I used to whip her o'er my knee
she'd mouth, sink teef, on hand, body

I'm teed at my seeing eye dawg that I don't need

My dawg
wasn't a sitter she just SAT
her business done in my cap, hat
and then she caught a rabid bat

I'm teed at my seeing eye dawg that I don't need

My dawg
will not get up. She's dead in bed
Caught her last nite with creepy Fred
Bats are vampires ... so it's thought, said

I'm teed at my seeing eye dawg that I don't need

My dawg,
gosh dang, durn it, I'm leaking wet tears
drowning in way too many beers
I'm glad she's gone! Lift your can! Cheers!

Released from that seeing eye dawg I didn't need!

This is really funny. I like it a lot. I have 2 dawgs that I don't need, but wouldn't trade them for anything. Patrick

Doogie, you're some poet. Yes, dogs are a pain, but as Karen said you still love 'em.

Sandy this was a real funny superb writing. The dog peeing on the floor was a gem.:) Doogie certainly has grown. The last time I seen a picture of him he was a young child. Thanks for the laughs, Sandy.

GOD BLESS
Tony
