While I was serving my tour of duty in Vietnam, there were many times when I became very lonely. This poem describes how I felt when I was probably at my lowest.

Broken Trust

I was in a war-torn land
Emotion had become my enemy
A friend asked if something was wrong
No point in lying when he knew the truth
Words spilled from my soul
When I told him about you
He listened without saying a word
Years had passed since our lips first touched
When I went there, I couldn't leave
I knew you wouldn't want me
Telling another how you made me feel
But I had to confide in someone

We carry our sorrows with us over the long years. I can feel it in your words.

I can't imagine what it would be like in that situation. You have my empathy. Love and peace to you,

Beautiful honest words, from a beautiful honest soul...
I'm sure she totally understood David...
Ther is something so charming about your vulnerability here
that contributes to the strength of your words...
A simply perfect piece...
Love,
Diana...

WHEN I SAY I APPRECIATE OUR 'HEROES' IT'S FOR MORE REASONS THAN ONE. MANY SOLDIERS, LIKE YOU, ALSO HAD TO BEAR THE PAIN OF A BROKEN HEART WHILE SERVING OUR COUNTRY. THANKS FOR SHARING THESE WORDS THAT SERVE AS AN EXAMPLE OF THE ADDITIONAL 'SACRIFICES' OF WAR. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

We all have our way of dealing with loneliness. I think she knew what you needed. I hope you got it when you returned.

Ahhh . . . But although we don't think so at the time, letting it all out to somewhat of a stranger is the best medicine you could have given yourself.
