A conversation with a tourist at a friends store that they CLOSE for the winter season...not to the letter, but close enough...

Closed…


 


What part of the word,


do you not understand?


 


It means what it says,


It means what it states,


No you won’t get any rebates,


Not when we are closed,


That’s what the sign says and states…


 


I cannot give you any of our rates,


Why? geez, can’t you just take?


What I say as the truth,


We are closed for the season,


No, you don’t need to know the reason,


suffice it to say, we are closed for repairs,


Repairs to your brain, you are in our prayers…


 


We will reopen in the late spring,


Just before the summer, yes it is such a bummer,


No you cannot look through our inventory,


Are you slow, are you stupid, is that the whole story?


 


Oh one more thing before you go,


Don’t ever come back, if I see you I will know,


That you actually did understand, therein I will blow,


Your brains out with a balloon full of air,


Not much in your head; yeah, there is not much there…

Sounds a lot like when my sister went to apply for a job, and the person told her that there was enough help even though there were "help wanted" signs in the window. In truth, they didn't want to hire her because she is physically handicapped. NOT good. Good write, though, Eddie; keep 'em coming!

"Repairs to your brain, you are in our prayers." Ed.. my god, I'm not entirely sure why, but this whole poem, especially this particular line, absolutely caused a huge stir in my head.. it is nothing less than brilliant commentary and damned great poetry, to boot! Jaysus, it's hilarious, but it also serves as a grandly written 'spout' that, given more than one read, is layered with some interesting and very human thought! Fantastic work here, Ed! katy xox. (I'm keeping this one!)
