Life as well as the seasons, many stages...

Poem Artwork

THE SUMMER OF LIFE…

Childhood is the part of life called summer,

Never could it be and never was it ever a bummer,

Playing all the way through,

Making and friends and discovering everything new,

That is the best time in life, when new things come into view…

Fall is for middle age,

Not yet have we achieved being a sage,

Nor are we old enough to be committed to a cage,

We make our own lives; we just travel from page to page…

Old age seems to be the winter of our lives,

All through our life waiting for this part we did strive,

Work, love, play, death, seen it all we have & we did cry,

Herein we have survived,

Now they revoke our licenses so that we cannot drive…bummer!

Ed even the Fall is better than the Winter of life. Remember we only have four seasons and what comes after Winter. Though now it seems an appetizing desire. Bill

This was a very enjoyable piece, Poet!!! What I would give to able to venture, and turn back the hands of time… I would like to think I am still in the spring of life, yet, I do know that is only a fallacy. Ed, this emotive write really touched me this morning my friend. Thank you for sharing it. Peace thru wishing for immortality.

Wonderful poem, Ed! If only we could return to those wonderful childhood Summer years.

And I can't decide if I'm in Fall or Winter right now. Rebecca hasn't put me in a cage yet, but she has threatened to take away my license. Bummer, indeed!
