Beautiful though she is on the surface,
what cannot be seen below,
we should worry therein,
As our oceans are dying but slow...

We have the ability to diagnose and give a good prognosis for the future of the oceans...why don't we do so?

Poem Artwork

ole’ mom ocean speaks...

ocean waves, they do sparkle like diamonds out of the rough,

they speak to me, as they break, they do so telling me its tough,

tough to live under mans domination,

the ocean at one time part of man’s creation,

speaking to me in tongues only we understand,

waves breaking on the beach, I hear of her frustration,

she feels that man is too much to bear,

maybe a hurricane or large storm to defeat him in his lair,

man will return in force, is my only explanation,

she cries to me only of her private desperation,

cannot help can I, although I do try, cleaning her beach,

even when those that use it, I cannot seem to teach,

man and his machines do more than can be seen,

below the surface they cause much mutilation,

oxygen of the sea gone from mans strangulation,

try to help do I, mom ocean and I in collaboration,

so few do help, she realizes and appreciates their affiliation,

if we don’t stop now, our oceans will die, yes, annihilation,

no breaks do I have in this poem of sorts,

old mom ocean requested it this way,

may spur your, for her plight, appreciation…

Poet, this is an absolutely timeless treasure, and a much-needed wake up call, if in fact, man is to continue to survive, we do need the life the oceans bring forth!!!… I can remember clearly in the 70’s people sounding the alarms, yet, we continue to destroy the very precious things we need to stay alive!!!… Excellent poetry, Ed!!!

A very wise, and a very sad write, Ed. Our oceans are dying a little more every day from pollution and man's greed, and so are the creatures that live on or in them. And, too many people do continue to litter, and to dump, and to pollute her, and far too many don't seem to care at all.

Very important message, here, and I'm sure Mother Ocean appreciates your concern.
