To Look at a Beach…

One would never suspect, when examining a beach,

So many lives have started and ended within a short reach,

So many have used that beach to discover and teach,

So many a year has passed that that beach has been a subject of speech…

So many creatures, both large and small, have used that beach to grow tall,

Children have built castles made of sand, stood back and took time to pause,

Learned from Nature how short life can be, castles built close to the sea, the cause,

The beach and ocean having no, as they are part of Nature, major flaws…

Peace is found, felt and a love of life taught,

Within the embrace of the beach I so love no feeling do I have of fraught,

She wraps her arms in loving embrace allowing no feeling of distraught,

Never when close to my beach and ocean am I anywhere near overwrought,

She beckons me to lie down on the edges of the sea,

To allow the ocean to engulf and become one with me,

I do so as I realize she has no ill will within that being her personal decree…

You've outdone yourself, dear Ed... this is a beautiful love poem for mother ocean, her life, her history, her infinite wisdom and her rightful immortality. She has seen it all and goes on. You've written a marvel here. Beautiful! katy xox.

This is beautiful Ed!!

This made me think...how could any humanbeing ever point a finger to a person and blame him/her of betrayal having a "relationship" with Nature and Mother ocean and God... it is so sacred and beautiful...the one who cannot see that...I think in my opinion..their hearts and minds stinks!!

Well written dear friend!!

Love Tinka

Ed, you have described how I feel about ALL of the natural
world. Even just a portion of my garden, with the morning
sun straining through the mist...wunderbar!
I go to my garden to meditate, while hummingbirds feet just
inches from my hand or head, and tree frogs let me pick
them up...staying on my arm or my tennis shoe for just a bit.
Water, Woods, Wildlife...I love it all...and in this poem
you have caught the essence of it.
