Off the Porch…

Overlooking the sea,

We look off the porch and see,

Waves of proportions to drown you and me,

Color an azure blue, not charged is a fee…

The next town down,

Cooler by a mile,

The inlet rough, sandbars and such,

Can recall a time when the inlet was a place to be a clown,

When I was young without much sense,

There in the inlet is where my boat did go down…

The beach the color of sand,

But of course it would be, covered in same,

Sand dunes with beach grass growing,

In the wind, off the ocean it is blowing…

Jetties made of boulders from far away,

To keep the sand on the beach the Corp of Engineers does say,

The sandbars do move as much as sometimes once a day,

The Coast Guard out to move the buoys away…

I see all this and more from my perch on my porch today,

Watch do I the seniors walking their hearts out on the beach,

Trying to play just like children away from the waves out of reach,

Mother ocean there for all of time, there for us to learn, she does teach…
