Back to my roots of writing, the shore, the night and Nature at its best!

Poem Artwork

Full Moon Shore…

The night to burn a candle,

The darkness it does loom,

Enveloping me in its black and gloom,

The one bright spot, the full beaver moon…

Reflecting it does on the ocean,

Little movement is there, yes no motion,

The waves barely make a sound,

No wind does blow around,

My love for this shore does naturally abound…

Just my dog and I on this beach so cold,

He does run into the water, as he is so bold,

Chasing he does the little birds on the shore,

Begging me to stay for longer or just a little more…

We do chase each other in the twilight,

For the day it is for him his highlight,

For me I do wish my home had a skylight,

To sit and enjoy this vision in the sky,

So beautiful it is, wish do I that I could fly…

Ed--the full moon (beaver or not, interesting, though) has a fascination that is hard to resist. At least one each month and different every time no matter where you are. Sounds like you and Rufuz enjoyed the evening . . . Wonderful poetry, love, b

There is a special magic in the full moon. I was outside tonight and took a few moments to gaze upon it. The desert sky is so clear and the air had the promise of colder nights to come. Lots of bright stars shining too. It was a glorious sight. Your poem is beautiful, Ed. I am glad you let Rufuz enjoy his doggie time even though you would rather be inside.
Take care,
Sherry

I liked to go and watch the full moon whenever I could take a walk with my dog Trooper. We have one now but I love the shore too. I said that the beach is the one word I use to go and meditate.

I enjoyed this thoroughly, Ed, knowing how Woofie loves being on the shore. I loved reminiscing through your poem the way he loves chasing the sea gulls and snouting whatever is tossed upon the shore. He lives for his ocean-side excursions, just as you do.

I love the stories you tell about you and Rufus! Maybe because I love my dog Blackie so much that I understand how you feel about Rufus. This is excellent, my friend. There is nothing like the beach...especially with your best friend.:)

:) A man and his dog... I've never been a dog person, Ed, but Rufus sounds so intelligent and fun-loving, it makes me wish I did. Happy Full Beaver Moon to you and Rufus, Ed.

By the way, this isn't the first time you've known the moon's 'name', that is so neat! How many names for moons are there? Still sunny here, only 2:00. I wish it was Monday and the kids were back in school... I wrote my piece last night bundled up, sitting on the picnic table, holding a flashlight, while enjoying the moon. Fricking froze I was out there so long! Then it took me over an hour to type the piece up! Stay safe and healthy, Ed.
