Doubt the human neighbors would be too pleased to know these animals were living near their homes...

The Bear Facts… While working Friday, Three black bears did emerge, From a darkened wood, Two little ones and their mom, I did stop and enjoy the beauty, Till the two little ones did have the urge, To pee on my tires, but still they were both cuties… Black bears are rarely seen here, Especially at this time of year, What brought them awake from their winter slumber I have no idea? For me though I did feel honored to have been the one to see, Normally I would have to go to a zoo and pay a fee, But I was more than afraid for all three, They did frolic with each other under a tree, Too close they were to the road, I just hoped my being there would grant them safe passage… Eventually they did go on their way, Mom saying playtime was over and done, The little ones did chase mom on the run, Such an experience to have seen them in person, Wild and free, no fences to corral them, Just enjoying their lives, seemingly having such fun… © ed ~ 2/12/05

Must have been a marvelous experience, Ed.

And it is a little early in the year for them to be out and about. I wonder if their home was disrupted or destroyed somehow. Or maybe they are a sign of an early spring. I truly hope they make it, and I truly hope you see them again someday.
