Thank you to Judy T. Lloyd for the inspiration for this piece...

Church of Nature…

I belong to the church of Nature,

Where the clouds are our roof,

And the ground is our seat,

We make way for our pastor,

Mother Nature most discreet…

Wherever we are we find we are at church,

In the mountains, in the valleys, on the beach,

Even on the side of a busy road under a birch,

That’s where we do our business, sometimes just research…

How many do believe in a god?

And what god do they believe in?

Be it Allah, God, Buddha or a golden cow,

We all can believe and worship anytime, even right now…

All we need is the open sky,

A field of flowers, salt air and sandy beach,

Tall redwoods or short pines,

Any type of tree or bush will do just fine,

Give me Nature over that of a church building,

To sit and be covered by vines, yes entwined,

Would feel completely right and ultimately divine…

So, you sense the creator in nature, too. I like the randomness of it all. No plan, just survival of the fittest. We are the ultimate survivors and the earth, in all its beauty is our womb and our nest.

Ahhhhhhh... you've spoken for me, too, and beautifully, Eddie M. Indeed, to worship at the altar of Mother Nature is to have life's joys at hand always... and our downfalls, and its yin/yang... all of life can be celebrated and mourned and glorified and discovered wherever we are, not in a building... NO! Nature IS God. Thank you for reading my mind and writing it here. Sigh... katy xox

This is a testimonial to your kinship with the natural world of creation, Ed. Thank you for sharing this offering. Love and peace to you and to Rufuz. Regis

Ed,

It doesn't matter where you are you're heard. Preference is only a state of mind. Love your thought of wisdom.

If this be the case, one worships creation, surly it is the creator to be worshiped.
You can't drive your jeep, less someone made it first..Heresy Ed.

On the pyre you go. Any excuse to keep us Eskimos warm...

I agree 100% on this...the time for me closes to my Lord...when alone in nature talking to the BIG man!!

Ed, this is Divine! I totally agree with you. A building is just a building, but God's spirit is everywhere! Nature is evident of His Glory!

Amen, Brother! And I truly wish more felt the same - then maybe more of we humans would respect Mother Nature.

I agree and some of them are conducted on a river boat or in the open air. I am glad that you were inspired. I sometimes think that the people who know the most about the wisdom and workings of God never had their name entered on a church roll.
