They had sexy bathing suits way back when,

Bathing did mean going to your waist then,

No catching a wave, or getting a tan,

Just a place to keep cool without a fan…

 

The boardwalk the place to go at night,

Really advanced they were, they had gas for light,

Shops and eateries all lit with candles,

Folks back then had little if any love handles…

A simpler time it must have been,

Before world wars and lives of sin,

No worries that the kids are out playing,

Sundays the Sabbath meant for praying…

 

Before rock music and television,

Before children talking back, respecting those older,

Before fear of nuclear attack,

Most the kids had to fear was a good old fashioned smack…
