The house in the back ground is where I was raised in her thoughts...

Poem Artwork

She lulled me to sleep as a child,

She scared me when she was wild,

She splashed me when weather was mild,

She was there to listen when I was riled,

Always was I with her most beguiled…

Her gently slapping waves,

Did to my heart and mind calm,

Her songs there when I did misbehave,

She comforted me when I did cry,

She did nurture me and teach me aplomb…

Though I do now grow older,

She is still there with to cry on a shoulder,

Forever will we each other recall,

She gives me much to mull over,

And herein I do for her and myself scrawl…

I don't know how you can make every line rhyme so effortlessly. You must have been born to be a poet. Great job, Ed!

You have an obvious strong connection to her,
and I love her, too. Left me with aching memories of her.
Thanks for this one, Ed.

Oh Ed, You know that I relate so much to this...oh how I miss the soft yet sometimes wild call of the sea.

Are you a pisces or aquarian Ed for Jay and many of us are affected by the call of mother ocean? I regress while reading your poem to the time I spent listening to the waves outside my window at Hilton Head. I love the ocean and will always find peace in her echo. Thanks for allowing me a chance to reflect tonight.

No better place to be then near the eternal sea. The Pacific Ocean is much more gentle than the Atlantic, I miss the Jersey shore!
