Poem Artwork

Out the car window,

Into the forest so green,

Flung without feeling,

Food of various kinds,

Fruit rinds,

Hopefully of the animals it does not bind…

Are we being helpful,

We may be trying,

When we let go food flying,

Should they eat it, in winter death defying,

Does it actually give nourishment or bring death…

Too close to the road the animal does approach,

Will the riders of the road poach,

When I do see someone doing this,

All I wish to do is to reproach…

We doubt that the people have the welfare of the animals on their mind when they toss food out of the car. Most animals probably don't have what it takes to survive human food.

some people just haven't any common sense ... besides littering, the animals will associate cars with food and end up as roadkill ...

A needed write, here, Ed. I saw someone toss food out a car the other day. It always shocks me when I see people do this. ~~Nordette

Many of the Black Bears in our national parks have to be trapped and relocated to keep the visitors protected. The bears smell the discarded trash and plaque the side roads where the tourists go. Littering is a crime against nature and those laws should be stricter from my point of view,
Thanks,
Susan

Splendid thoughts Ed on the somtimes good intentions of man. However, the danger of becoming road kill far outweighs the bit of food...litter is litter no matter.
