Speaking for the trees and grass we thank you Mother Nature...

Poem Artwork

We are but branches & blades,

But we’ve had feelings throughout the decades,

After a long dry spell, our nourishment does cascade,

After such a long time please excuse our tirade…

A heavy soaker is what we require,

But of any kind of rainfall we do to aspire,

Our roots in their state of dehydration,

Do today of the rain admire…

Off the onslaught we have fought,

Of human feet, animal feces and pee,

All genera of attacking insect,

Till now we had become quite distraught,

But this night does fall our precious commodity,

That till now we have so diligently for sought…

Rain, Glorious Rain - truly the elixir of life.

And we should all follow your example and thank Mother Nature when she sends us some.

Where The Redwing Sings by Mr. Ed

A book of nature inspired poems and essays, written from the heart and soul of a life-long nature, animal, and wilderness lover, and dedicated to today’s children - Earth's only hope for a better tomorrow. This book won 'The Poetry Category'
