This guy must be what Rufuz used to chase,
Maybe when I walk back there now I should carry mace,
I wouldn’t want to run into this guy in the dark,
Maybe all I need is a tape player with the sound of a bark…
Granted he ain’t no grizzly,
But I’d hate to catch him in a bad mood,
Hope he has a home inside when it is out there drizzly,
Especially if he is grumpy, I hope he doesn’t think of me as food…
I don’t even like walking in the woods when its dark,
Rufuz used to be my protector, my knight with a shining bark,
Living so close to a highly wooded area & a park,
Is the reason we have much wildlife, its almost like,
This is where Noah did after the flood empty his ark…

About a month ago a bear was spotted on my little dirt road leading to my home. It was spotted again behind my nieghbors home later in the day. Its very unusual in my neck of the woods to see a bear. I've been wary of letting my little dog go out, but its been a month...the bear is probably a long way off by now. Every yr. or so a bear is spotted around here...and coyotes. I'm not afraid for myself but for the small animals around, including my little dog. Knowing my Blackie he'd bark enough to scare the bear away. Lol! Enjoyed your poetry, Ed.

And the best way to confront one's fears is to face them, head on. Get yourself a nice comfy sleeping bag and an old tent, and do some campin out there!
PS: Bear Scat makes a great substitute for firewood when it's rainin.
