There are also a bunch of fools in New Orleans who think they can hold the Gulf of Mexico back. We are intelligent, but we have very poor memory that could help us out a lot when we make stupid short-term decisions.

How about, The New Jersey National Seashore? No building within a half-mile of the beach.

Humanity NEVER learns from their mistakes,
Still we build our homes on the shores of oceans, rivers & lakes

Well, some of humanity never learns - and very sadly, it's our so called 'leaders' today. In Scandinavia and other places they know that these Super Storms will continue to plague us because of Climate Change, and they build appropriately.

Most of our leaders, however, still even refuse to believe in global warming, or in the ever increasing rise in earth's sea levels, or in the now inevitable Super Storms that will surely continue to plague us.

Yes, and when the Jersey Shore is back to its pre-Sandy days sometime in the future, it was live it up and be happy until history comes to call once again. Same way with down here in south Louisiana, but we are slowly understanding and figuring things out to the effect we are trying to strengthen our levees and build out houses on pilings high about the ground.

Boy, you are getting serious, but of course you're right, with all this infrastructure needing a proper future serious thought, and money's spend for the next twenty years, to save a hundred years worth of forever costs, with the unemployment as high as it is, there sure is a lot of work to do, you're right on the button my friend, read my blog. This reminds me of something George Carlin said that goes something like this, The earth will always be O.K.. She will shake us off like fleas if she needs to.......Like you are saying here....the earth will reclaim what is hers.
