The ocean & beach did of me beckon,
The 50 miles there seemed to pass in a second,
Traffic was quite light; still I took my time,
With windows open & stereo blasting,
I drove without haste, my destination for me everlasting…
A cold front predicted to come through,
Not even the dropping temperatures could make me blue,
Today was my last time I can walk in the ocean,
At least while it was warm enough to go for a swim,
For me that was what I call a win-win…
Always like going to see the ocean, winter time too. Glad you got to drive there safely and had a last swim for the season Take care, Ed Matlack, it will wait for you to go again, surely;
Sounds like a perfect day, Ed. I haven't driven on such a day with my windows down and stereo blasting in a long time. Wish I could have joined you, buddy.
I wish I could visit the sea when it beckons. The mountains are nice but by their nature they're limiting, unlike the sea that reaches to the horizon. Enjoyed this poem very much!
Explore the mystery of how nature makes unexpected gifts of creative wonders to an unsuspecting caregiver one late night and early morning in southeastern Georgia, USA.
A book of nature inspired poems and essays, written from the heart and soul of a life-long nature, animal, and wilderness lover, and dedicated to today’s children - Earth's only hope for a better tomorrow.
