Surprising the things found on walk-abouts...

Poem Artwork

It was just sitting there pretty as you please,
Not covered by dirt, rocks or even leaves,
It’s thought to be from the fifties era,
Nowhere near it though were any fauna or flora…

It was just standing out in the open,
Clean it was of much dirt,
The discoverer thought it to be quite curt,
So much so he named it by the name Bert…

Its voice would have been a loud bell,
That’s how one could of its approaching tell,
It’s going to be donated to the Smithsonian,
Although if it were me, I would have to of it, sell.

A relic of the old days. Enjoyed your poem, Ed.

I miss phone booths. We only spoke on the phone when we had to and not all the time as people do now.

Bert? His name was Ma Bell.

Finally, after over 100 years of his unwanted surveillance snoopy party lines, we can tell old Alexander Bell to go to hell!

I would tell you to go "stuff" that one. Not with coins but with good old-fashioned teenagers, like you. Whoop de do.

We love our new cell phones but it's very comforting and nostalgic to recall those phone boxes. Still, if you ever ran out of change while talking to a loved one this phone became instant hell. I'll take my cell. Amen!

I have not seen a phone booth such as this. I hope the phone is still working.

I still have one of those old black desk phones with a rotary dial. Up until a few years ago, I could still use it to make and take calls. And then the landline went digital, ending its use as a phone. The g-kids enjoy playing on it. To them, it is a dinosaur, just like me.

An earlier time revisited in this delightfully rhyming poem. An era forever gone no doubt.

I've been in some phone booths similar to this one. Brings back memories.
