Poem Artwork

Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”

 Jalal ad-Din Rumi

........................................................................................

The marshlands are alive with summer breeze and freshness

as I make my glad passage along, to a vantage point I love

I notice a stately egret, standing stock still in the reeds

with lightening speed he parts the waters, catching his prey whole

and the languid sun warms my face, as I think of the one I love

knowing I have been richly blessed, and our kingdom is still to come

I settle down in my favorite place, under the blooming rowan tree

and sip some refreshing iced tea, my heart is in its element

for I am rest assured, that everything is going to turn out right

the melancholy cry of a faraway loon, pierces the unbroken silence

filling my soul with the breathless touch, of truth on the other hidden side

blue damsels and iridescent dragonflies, hover within the flag iris

water boatmen and pond skaters, dance along the water surface

and with or without a reason to believe, I know the cycle continues ever onwards

Paints a whirling, vivid, dappled scene. You are an elegant guardian of nature's secrets. KQ.

Peter, your poetry is so serene and relaxing. You take us tere with the sound of each bird, the path of every creature, the feel of every leaf...even the cool and refreshing taste of your iced tea. We breath a heavy sigh with you in your contemplation of your surroundings and the cycles of nature and of life, what is and what is yet to be...
dreamy poetryat it's best.

I've come to learn two things about your poetry, Peter. One...it always stirs the senses, two... it's always beautiful and never disappoints. This one was perfection. Liza

It is so amazing that if only one can just open one's eyes to appreciate the beauty of the nature. What a scenic beauty this one is! Thank you for offering this to your readers!

P.S. Thank you so much for your insightful interpretation on my story, "My Childhood's Recurring Dream - Heaven and Hell". I think it was most appropriate. Thank you!

When we sit and ponder as we oft do, or at any rate should, we come to understand that, yes, the cycle will continue with, or without us. However, as far as "that everything is going to turn out right," I am not all that sure, at least not here on this tormented earth. Good thinking piece.

I know...that I know. The alpha...and omega...of LIFE.

Your heart and mind and beautifully-freed spirit reach incomparable heights, dear Peter, and delve into magnitudes, such as, only the Creator can reveal!

What a blessing you are, to everyone who reads your poetry...and absorbs your photography! What a huge sigh of relief...that spirit of peace, which you bring.

I have been familiarizing myself with your work and I must say I am enjoying it immensely! I love your closing lines in this piece, 'and with or without a reason to believe, I know the cycle continues ever onwards' If I have learned anything in the last two years, it is just this... Well written, Peter!

A bloody powerful summary quote! Ah.. if more could do that huh dear friend?

There you go again . . . did you know that my wife and I just finished a photo shoot at Cuyamaca Lake of the Egrets that dwell there?

Andre calls this "synchronicity" I call it connected in the spirit!

Sir Peter, your knowledge of Flora is quite astounding. In your constructs you always spell out those things around you with the panache of a botanist or a horticulturalist.

That image . . . Hummmm? I believe we would sit there together, with cheese and bread and a fine bottle of wine, or two, and discuss catching frogs, or perhaps why that particular rock resembles a large mammary.

Be blessed poet! I am thankful for our poetic fraternity.
