Right Turn Randolph I

Well, it's the day after Turkey Day and what most say is the official beginning of the Christmas season so.... I had to share my tongue-in-cheek parody of the red-nosed wonder and the jolly one himself. I do hope you enjoy this bit of fun! There are three parts to the story and I'll be sharing them all over the next few days.

Right Turn Randolph

I'm letting you in on a little secret-
One that's been so very well kept.
Did you know that once Christmas almost wasn't
Because the red-nosed Rudolph overslept?
Yes, 'tis true or so I was told;
Rudolph slept the whole night away!
Poor Santa was frantic! What could he do?
He needed that reindeer to guide his sleigh!
He asked the North Pole's chief of police
To scour his entire jurisdiction.
If there was one, there might be another
Who suffered from Rudolph's affliction.
In no time at all, the chief returned
With a creature that made even Santa scoff.
'I know he isn't much to look at, Santa,
But this here's Rudy's cousin, Randolph!!'
He was spindly and straggly but had a red nose.
Santa said, 'Please tell me you know how to fly.'
Randolph said 'Naw, Santa, I never learned how
But it shore would be fun to try!'
Santa tossed him a book and said, 'Read this quick,'
It will tell you what you'll need to do.'
Five Easy Steps To Learn How To Fly
Santa said, 'Too little time; learn it in two!'
Before they knew it, it was time to go
And that's when the 'real' fun began!
Santa had a feeling he was in for a night
When Randolph yelled, 'Ready, Mr.HoHo-man!'
Up, up and away! Off they flew!
Soon they were flying right along!
Straight ahead was their first big turn
And that's where it all went wrong!
At the very last moment Santa remembered
'Right turn at the next intersection!'
Well, Randolph had a bit of a problem with that;
Seems he had NO sense of direction.
Randolph went left and the rest went right
While Santa did a flip in the air;
Landed hard and saw a few stars
And yelled, 'Randolph!! Hold it right there!'
Now Santa had no way of knowing
He'd made a huge mistake;
Direction Randolph was lacking
But he had one good set of brakes!
Santa flew like never before
Landing on Randolph's back
And before he could say, 'Good stop, Randolph'
On top of him came the toy sack!
He quickly decided upon a plan of action
And explained what they must do;
Santa figured he was safest right where he was
To ride the whole night through.
Remembering not to yell those words again,
They made no more sudden stops,
Only clipped one or two trees
And crash landed on just a few rooftops.
Left meant right, right meant left;
Oh, the reindeer became so confused!
Except for that one named Cupid-
He's in love again and so bemused!
Yeah, he met a girl named Shirley
With big brown... oh but wait!
That isn't the right story, is it?
And my time with you is growing late!
Anyway, they crashed a few times and missed a few houses
But somehow made it through the night;
Santa was never so happy to see
That dawn of Christmas light!
It seemed that all the North Pole turned out
To see how they had fared;
With them stood Sleepy Rudolph...
Santa yelled, 'Reindeer, you hold it right there!'

Oh Oh!!!!!!!
I guess you know what happened next;
Poor Santa -off he flew!
You'll never believe where they found him!
Hehe! But you'll have to wait for Part Two!
