Because I believe in you. You have made me so very proud. Let me take a picture of you. Stand by your mother--now say cheese! C'mon, let me see you smile. You look stunning in that white dress! Miss, may I have your autograph? What do you mean, "Aww, stop it, Dad?" I think you are very pretty. 'Course, it helps that you look like me. You get your talent from me, too. Uh, oh--there's your cue! Get onstage! Your mother and I'll be watching. Yes, dear, I have the camera. Yes, dear, I have more film. See you after the show, Honey. Now get out there and break a leg!
This is just perfect in both inspiration and composition, Karla! What a wonderful scenario you paint here, and with such empathy and sensitivity. This poem has the perfect poise of the ballet itself, delicate yet strong! And to base such beauty on an image which would otherwise strike such fear into your heart...
